My care home: Beryl Purdy
23 January 2008
Beryl Purdy
has been a resident at Seely Hirst Home for seven
years.
“There is a very relaxed atmosphere at Seely Hirst Home, where
everyone works together with a lot of friendly teasing. The staff
are very approachable taking time to talk with us, and we each have
a ‘keyworker’.
“There is no need to worry if I am ill, the staff are quick to
call the registered doctor, while some residents have their own
doctor near enough to visit.
“We have a resident’s bi-monthly meeting and our opinions are
sought in matters regarding the home. Although attendance is not
compulsory, I find them very helpful.
“The food is well-balanced, where we can order in advance or
suggest alternatives if we dislike what is on offer. There is a
lounge and a garden with a pleasant patio where we can sit when we
wish.
“There are plenty of daily activities, monthly trips and outings
to places of interest which keep us occupied, with entertainers at
least twice a month.”
