What will happen when I speak to my local
council?
Your local council will arrange for you to have a care
assessment.
A care assessment is when someone from the social services
department of your local council will talk to you to find out what
care you need.
They may also talk to other people. For example, someone you
live with, your family or your friends.
Everyone has the right to a care assessment.
Your local council should listen carefully to what you want and
need.
For example, if you want to stay in your own home rather than go
into a care home your council should try and make that happen.
Remember: It is your right to decide how to
live your life. This includes where you want to live, and who you
want to live with.
