Your rights if you care someone else (page 1 of 2)

The Government knows that it can be a very hard job caring for someone else.

My rights

If you care for someone else you have rights too.

These are your rights:

Working together

1. Right to have a carer's assessment from your local council

A carer's assessment is where your local council will talk to you about your work to care for someone else, and the needs that you have.

The needs that you have are not just about caring for someone else. They include other things in your life such as your paid job and things you like to do in your spare time.

Making decisions

The council will then decide if it can help you get a regular break from your job of caring for someone else.
